A celebration of Ashura – a period of mourning to commemorate the martyrdom of the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad Imam Hussein, who was killed in battle at Karbala in Iraq, in 680 BC.
This is a practice of only a small sect within Islam and not part of Islam, Islam is very similar to Christianity in many practices.
that’s not Islam’s custom, it’s region’s culture…
This is part of the beliefs of the Shia sect of the Muslims.. and is not an acurate representation of the whole Islamic community.
