Now it is Tropical Islands Resort. Tropical Islands Resort is an artificial tropical resort in Krausnick, Germany. It is said to have the world’s largest tropical indoor pool which can accommodate up to 8,000 visitors a day. It is also the world’s largest indoor waterpark at 66,000 m² (710,000 sq feet).
The resort is located in Briesen/Brand, part of Halbe in Dahme-Spreewald, Brandenburg, Germany, about 60 km (37 mi) south-southeast of Berlin. It is inside a disused hangar 360 metres (1,181 ft) long, 210 metres (689 ft) wide and 107 metres (351 ft) high. At 5.5 million m³ (194 million ft³), it stands as one of the largest buildings on Earth by volume, and is the world’s largest single hall without supporting pillars inside. The hangar cost €78 million and was originally commissioned by Cargolifter AG as an airship hangar named Aerium, but the airship it was intended to house – the CL160 – was never built.
The Malaysian Tanjong company bought the hangar and the surrounding real estate for €17.5 million and turned it into a resort with a man-made tropical habitat. It opened on December 19, 2004. The resort has an exotic environment with rainforest, beach, artificial sun, palm trees, orchids, and birdsong. The air is kept at a warm 25 °C (77 °F). Tropical Islands is open all day, every day of the year.
They are the real deal: the original bungee jumpers! Deep in the jungle of Pentecost Island, part of the Vanuatu archipelago of the South Pacific, young men fling themselves from wooden towers 100 feet high, with nothing but slim tree vines to stop their fall. They have no nets and no safety equipment, no water or cushions to soften the impact. The idea is to jump from as high as possible, and to land as close to the ground as possible. It is also a harvest ritual. The islanders believe the higher the jumpers dive, the higher the crops will grow. Some ritual, eh?
If you are going to have a beach wedding then this post could give you some beautiful beach wedding decorating ideas. I mean, why not make a wedding on a tropical island and just jump to a nearby hotel after the ceremony and have a honeymoon right away?! :D
Lake Iseo or Lago d’Iseo or Sebino is the fourth largest lake in Lombardy, Italy, fed by the Oglio river.
It is in the north of the country in the Val Camonica area, near the cities of Brescia and Bergamo. The lake is almost equally divided between the Provinces of Bergamo and Brescia. This is a heavily industrialised part of the world, but the area remains one of outstanding natural beauty. The road north to Switzerland used to run along the side of the lake, and stories about entire families being swallowed up by the murky waters abound. A much safer road, carved into the side of the mountains, now exists.
In the middle of the lake is Monte Isola (or Montisola), one the largest islands of any lake in Europe.
Castle on the island was recently bought by George Clooney as a present for his girlfriend! :D
